ILLUMINATED PATHS have been piling on the tapes for a while now, but they've really been crankin out some gems recently, i got the jump on their latest STRANGE MOUNTAIN missive and blurbed REC #108 just a month ago, and here i am back at their well again - still waters run deep -and mysterious- on this one - a link to a previous IP entry by LINDEN POMEROY (of LOST TRAIL split and SLEEP CHRYSALIS collaborator fame) suggests that POMEROY is BMT, a mystic moniker and album title that matches the vibe of the music, opening with "conjuring" which sets the scene - this whole thing is kinda like a discretely recorded seance, capturing dissonant sound shapes in the howling wind, tape manipulated into a tome of supernatural ballads - more gold from the stream of weirdo drone cassettes, perhaps informed by earliest / best GROUPER and INCA ORE, sometimes recalling underappreciated 2013 favorite DIALING IN's SALT THAT AWAKENS HER lathe cut via PSEUDOARCANA
