NEVADA GREENE / SCOTT TUMA - RAGGED HOLLOW
hitt 2016, edition of ?
pastoral ambient folk guitar bliss, cosmic lullabies from the backcountry, each side offers a longer fingerpicked passage and an ambient coda of sorts, NEVADA GREENE's side basks in a warm circular guitar melody with some nice violin accompaniment, TUMA's side is somehow an even more lush affair as it trickles like a wind up music box perpetually on it's last go round, with touches of subtle atmospherics and minimal piano accompaniment - pleasant and relaxing, but also contemplative, RAGGED HOLLOW is a stable bridge between FAHEY and ENO -TUMA's contribution in particular sounds like a long lost OBSCURE RECORDS side- much like side two of last year's M. CROOK's (aka NEVADA GREENE?) KAHANI cassette via DISMAL NICHE (REC #27), intersecting contemporary titles like ROBIN ALLENDER's FOXES IN THE FOYER, MARISA ANDERSON's THE GOLDEN HOUR and a host of TALK WEST tapes - still diggin, haven't found out how deep it goes just yet, but this could be thee folk album of the year
