DAN MELCHIOR - HAPPINESS IS OVER RATED

"dedicated to the memory of Letha Diane Rodman Melchior whose voice can be heard on both songs" - a deeply affected ambient work, even with MELCHIOR's more recent experimental leans and leaps, i had no idea that something like this was on his horizon, maybe vaguely suggested by his lp on KYE, it's so shockingly gorgeous and heartfelt, sadly inspired by the recent death of his wife, an expression of melancholy unlike anything i can recall at the moment, i don't know what to say about music that is like that, hyperbolic metaphors might seem a bit tasteless, then again this was sold to me for my enjoyment, and i do very much enjoy it, in fact i might go so far as to say it's MELCHIOR's best album yet and one of my absolute favorite albums of the year, no question about it
