just seein the names of the artists involved had me thinkin this was gonna be big - CLAY has a couple fantastic collab tapes with highly regarded GREG GORLEN, both of which were highly rec'd here (REC #10 and REC #43) - YONKER also has a couple recs here, one as solo side project moniker PASTURE (REC #18) and one as a member of WILLAMETTE (REC #77) -- this is right down the middle of all that, exquisite experimental ambient bliss, each side perfectly complimenting the other, sparse crackly found sounds and bygone samples, warbly loops and tape manipulation, modern classical and musique concrete elements suspended in time and space, channeling the spirit of GAVIN BRYARS' SINKING OF THE TITANIC like the otherworldly sounds of a sunken ghost ship bubbling up from haunted depths, without question one of the absolute top ambient albums of the year
